Tips for Delicious Smoked Salmon Canapés with Dill

  • Use Fresh Ingredients for Optimal Flavor: Smoked salmon and dill are the stars of this recipe, so choose fresh herbs and high-quality smoked salmon. Fresh dill will add a more vibrant flavor than dried, and high-quality salmon offers a richer, smoky taste.
  • Balance the Lemon and Dill in the Sour Cream: To create the perfect balance, start with a little lemon juice and dill, then adjust to taste. This allows you to control the acidity and freshness of the sour cream.
  • Add a Crunchy Texture: For a firmer base, use rye bread or lightly toast the bread rounds before assembling. Toasted bread adds a delightful crunch that complements the creamy topping.
  • Keep Canapés Chilled: These appetizers taste best when served chilled. Keep them in the refrigerator until you’re ready to serve to maintain freshness and prevent the sour cream mixture from becoming too soft.
